Your Journey is Not a One Way Street
The Lord does not want you to sit on the sidelines and wait for an opportunity to arise to indulge in Him. He wants you to be collaborate with Him. He longs for you to want Him. He desires a relationship with you, and just like any other relationship you will need teamwork. Let me break it down for you!
1. Take time - make time to sit in His presence. How can a relationship grown when someone is not willing to get to know the other person. Jesus wants to reveal himself to you, but you have to be willing to take time to be with Him.
2. Search for Him throughout the day. Now this one can be hard because during the day you can be rushing from this place to that place. You can have meeting’s back to back. Your kids can be running all over the place. Try taking deep breaths, and ponder all that the lord has done for you. Whisper “ Jesus make me aware of your presence.” Turn on some worship music, and let the Holy spirit have it’s way. God is always there, but you have to receive Him.
3. Rejoice in His goodness. Worshiping is a powerful tool that the Lord has given you. The Lord sings praises over you, and He rejoices over you with gladness. Do you do the same for Him. Powerful things happen when you worship, and a special communion takes place when you do it. It’s just you and Him. Are you sacrificing a moment of praise?
4. Rest in His presence; relax in His everlasting arms. The Lord is your refuge. He wants to be your safe place. He cares for you, but you have to open up and let Him. He is not going to force you, but He desires you. He wants to take your burdens off of you. Resting means to cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength. Now can the Lord do that for you?
The lord gives His brothers and sisters free gifts. He wants to fill you with His gifts, but you have to desire them, and collaborate with Him during the process. Your journey is not just about getting things from God. It is letting Him come alive in you. Getting to know Him. Trusting Him wholeheartedly, and loving Him. All of this requires not just Him, but you!
Homework assignment: Using the examples above write down one area in which you have been lacking in. Ponder on that! Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in that area. From now on I want you to show up and out for the Lord. Let Him know that you are all in for this amazing journey!
