4 Scriptures For Laziness

I believe that laziness is a disease. I have been lazy for the past two months when it comes to blogging, working out, and other goals. Can you relate? I have to pray that this lazy spirit be lifted off of me everyday. I pray for discipline and consistency. Do you pray for the same things? I looked up scriptures on this topic, and I learned a lot. Here are four scriptures that really captured my heart about being lazy.

Proverbs 10: 4
“Lazy hands make poverty , but diligent hands bring wealth.”
Diligent- Having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work duties.
What are your work duties? Has God given you an assignment? Has God given you a project?    Has God given you a blog post to write? If we want to serve we have to be productive.

2. Proverbs 19:15
“ Laziness brings on deep sleep and the shiftless go hungry.”
Shiftless- Characterized by laziness, indolence, and a lack of ambition. Jesus, the shiftless go hungry. I don’t know if Solomon was talking about physical hunger, or spiritual hunger. Either way we should never be empty on both parts. If we are lazy we are missing out!

3. Hebrews 6:12
“ We do not want to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”
Hope and faith keeps us from being lazy. We keep running the race for the eternal reward. Laziness is not an option for a winner, and this is our winning season!

4. 1 John 5: 3-4
“ But the hard work and self discipline of serving Christ is no burden to those who love him.”
I love this scripture. I wrote this down when the Lord gave me a list of bad habits I need to stop. It’s pretty cut dry! If the Lord has given you something to do there will be no laziness from you, because you are serving. You love the Lord so much that you want to be diligent in the task. You want to see the glory of the Lord spread.

Father God we thank you for this day. We thank you for the awareness of this lazy spirit that is trying to overcome our lives. We plead the blood of Jesus over any spirit that is not like you. We pray for the Holy Spirit to teach, show, and guide us in the right direction to produce fruit of  diligence in us. We pray for discipline! We pray that our priorities are in alignment with you. We pray that we will decrease and you will increase. We thank you father for your love and patience. Apart from you we can do nothing, fill us up lord. We thank you. We love you, in Jesus name we pray Amen!
Have a blessed weekend loves!
